Ascribe develops
natural crop protection based on small molecules from the soil microbiome.
We empower farmers to grow healthier, more resilient crops and achieve higher yields, ensuring a bountiful future for global agriculture.
Farmers face increasing pressures. Disease and damage destroy 25% of crops annually, chemical solutions are losing effectiveness, and biological alternatives often can’t compete on cost or reliability.
We offer a better solution. Our products combine the strength and simplicity of chemical fungicides with the safety and sustainability of biologicals. This gives farmers new options for protecting their crops and building resilience for the future.
We provide natural crop protection solutions designed to seamlessly integrate with modern farming practices.
Our small molecule products can be applied as foliar sprays, seed treatments, or mixed with other crop protection solutions.
They are non-toxic, biodegradable, and bee-friendly and safeguard the health of the soil, farm workers, and consumers.
By delivering proven disease control and plant health benefits at minimal application rates, our products ensure cost-effective crop protection for all farmers – from large-scale commodity growers to specialty crop producers.
Farmers
grow crops that resist the toughest pathogens with fewer chemicals.
Consumers
get more affordable, higher-quality foods without toxic pesticide residues.
Industry
gains scalable innovations that address market needs and meet sustainability goals.
Born from discoveries at the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell University, our technology uses beneficial small molecules called ascarosides found naturally in the soil microbiome. Plants and microbes have evolved side-by-side, and small signaling molecules like ascarosides play a critical role in mediating interactions between them. When applied to crops, some of these molecules can prime plants’ innate defense systems so they can respond to pathogens more effectively.
Backed by a decade of research and more than 500 field trials worldwide, our technology reduces costs, improves yields, and helps manage resistance.
Phytalix is a natural small-molecule biofungicide that introduces a new category of crop protection molecules to the market. Unlike traditional fungicides, Phytalix strengthens plants rather than relying on toxic effects to kill pathogens.
Phytalix® is nontoxic, biodegradable, and non-GMO.
Phytalix® treatments are effective at minimum concentrations requiring only milligrams of active ingredient per acre.
Phytalix® can be applied as seed treatment or foliar spray.
Ascribe Bioscience was founded in 2017 based on discoveries at the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell University. We are a team of creative, motivated plant scientists, chemists, agronomists, and business professionals. Our mission is to make agriculture better for people and the environment by developing natural crop protection using small molecules from the soil microbiome to provide farmers with reliable, affordable, and sustainable solutions.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the winners of round three of the Grow-NY food innovation and agriculture technology business competition, which included Ascribe Bioscience.
